What we do

Axles turn every mile the truck runs, which makes them first in line for wear — and one of the most expensive parts to ignore. Regular inspection is the cheap way out: we catch bad bearings and seals before they turn into a full axle job.

Common questions

Axles questions, answered

How do I know if it's an axle problem?

Shaking or shuddering while driving, a leaking wheel seal, or an alignment that won't hold no matter how many times it's set are the giveaways. Axles turn every mile the truck runs, so they wear before most other parts.

Can a worn spindle be repaired, or does the axle need to be replaced?

Most of the time it's sleeved and re-machined — a good housing does not need to be scrapped over one worn surface. Full replacement is for axles that are past that point.

Do you replace axles with original parts?

Yes — front or rear axle replacement uses original parts, not off-brand substitutes, whenever repair doesn't make sense anymore.

What causes an axle to shift after a heavy load?

Usually the hardware holding it — worn U-bolts or a loose spring pack lets the axle walk out of position. Worth having both checked together instead of just re-torquing and hoping.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are welcome. The shop is at 1050 West Penn Pike, Tamaqua, open Monday to Friday, 7:00 to 4:30.

What does an axle job cost?

Bearings and seals cost a lot less than a full axle, which is why we inspect before we quote instead of assuming the worst. Call (570) 386-4195 or send it through the quote form and we'll tell you which one you're looking at.
